Asian Handicap and its structure

Origins of the Asian Handicap

If you read the term, it is not difficult to guess its origin. The Asian handicap moved to the European betting shops pari match .com from Asia. Why does it look so strange? 1,25; -0,75; 0,25. It's like drinkers discussing how much to take for the evening. The thing is that the betting business has been outlawed in Asia for a long time. Local analysts couldn't look at each other's lines and form odds in the same range. Any divergence of opinion had serious consequences: different teams were offered the same odds to win. Naturally, bookmakers profited and enjoyed themselves, and the profitability of the betting business was just a dream.

In order to even out the spread, the bookmakers began to add a non-zero advantage (for example, 0.5 goals) of one of the teams. Thus appeared handicaps. Then the Asians came up with a more complex idea, which was immortalized by mentioning their native part of the world. The Asian handicap added (or took away) two values from the team. To make it easier to perceive, they wrote their arithmetic average. For example, a 0.75 handicap means that your team will add 0.5 and 1 to the result. Some bookmakers write the Asian handicap in brackets: (-2;-2.5), some with a hyphen: 2-2.5, some with a fractional number: 2.25, but the essence remains the same, your bet is divided in half and each amount is sent to a hard forum of a whole and fractional number.

The difference between an Asian handicap and a hard handicap

A regular handicap does not allow you to choose the range of events that the Asian Handicap will provide. After all, in fact, you bet on two outcomes of the same event. This is best illustrated by an example. Let's pull the favorite, the long-suffering Real Madrid. Julen Lopetegui led the Real Madrid club into a stalemate and was fired. As soon as Santiago Solari was made head coach, you can take on the "crelins". Several factors come into play at once: the commitment to the fight, the emotional lift, and the constancy of the squad. Real Madrid players can do anything, as long as the coach doesn't get in the way.

The first match after Lopetegui's dismissal the club from Madrid played against Valladolid. We would like to take the defeat, grabbing a -2 handicap, but we will use the Asian handicap. The odds on (-1.75) is very good - 1.7. A bet of 100 notional units breaks down into two 50-odd bets. One with odds of 1.7 goes to -1.5, the other with the same amount goes to -2. The score 2:0 has not pleased us much, but we can hear the ringing of small change. 50*1.7 50*1 (return for -2) = 135 conventional units. If we had bet on the European handicap -2, we would have had a nice zero in profit.

It is a moot idea to use Asian handicaps for the favorites. Odds for home matches are very low, you will spend more on travelling to the ATM. Let's check with a sample of Solari's first 10 matches. We will take an Asian handicap of -0.25 as an away player and (-1.75) at the Santiago Bernabeu. The bank of 1,000 conventional units is evenly divided into 10 bets. Against Victoria and Celta, the odds are 1.5. "Eibar" takes away the savings by an unexpected defeat, "Roma" gives a multiplication as much as 2.24. The match with "Melilla" we miss, our hand doesn't lift to load 1.05. Bets against Valencia and Huesca went on the verge, with Casima - confidently, but CSKA and Rayo Vallecano spit on our investment. Counting: 135 150 150 224 150 153 197 = 1 159. The bank is increased by 159 units, that's the promised money for the passage.
